Broken

Recently, i read the first few pages of the book "AFGHANISTAN" by Magnus and Naby which is supposedly a very accurate book on Afghanistan. It stated how important a country Afghanistan is to the economical, political and even social stability of Asia and in today's global community the whole world. Based on my very limited knowledge of the world, I strongly agree with such notion. The book also indicates how people of afghanistan have fallen prey to manipulations and tricks of power hoggers over centuries. Based on the last survey done in afghanistan which was in 1990s, about 90% of the population was illiterate. This made them highly vulnerable to exploitations under the name of God, Islam, prosperity and almost anything else which in turn opened the door of hope for extremists. I think the reason Afghans are vulnerable to manipulation is that they are very passionate and feel committed to Islam, family, tribe, culture, "values", and such issues. Afghans love

I REMEMBER

Afghanistan is near and dear to my heart. It is the place where i grew up, where i spent my childhood and most of my teen years. I still remember playing outside till late, walking to school, taking public transportation to relatives house, celebrating Eid and Nawrooz, all those family gatherings, our house with its big yard that was planted with lots of vegetables and flowers. Life was pretty simple those days and very much enjoyable although we didn't have a lot of facilities that we have in the states. I vividly remember my sweet grandmother teaching me house chores and my parents helping me with my studies in the evenings. I also remember the war times, running from place to place to hide, schools closing, the panic look on my parents' faces, the desperation in their voices and their reassurance that we will be fine. I remember how they used to hug us in an effort to shield us from pieces of bombs and rockets that just blew up around our house. I remember how we would wake

Disclaimer

Helllo everyone, I just wanted to say that here, on this blog, I would like to share my own ideas, experiences and interpretation of life. I am not representing a special group, nor intending to judge or criticize any country or culture, merely explaining life from my perspective and share my experiences and ideas with  you all. Honest and appropriate comments and suggestions are most welcome. As the title of the blog says, I want to share my stories of back home and all the changes and adjustments that we went through in the US. I want to highlight how often we stand at the cross roads of personal, cultural, social and religious conflicts and we have to choose between one or the other.Anyways, I am running late for my school. I will be back soon with something worth reading and commenting.
